The LG G5 SE was recently announced in LG’s Russia and Latin America website. With only a little and slight internal downgrade, you can expect a lower price while having almost all of the LG G5’s features.
If you think this is a smaller version of LG G5 like the iPhone SE to the iPhone 6s, it is not. With that said, let’s find out the differences between LG G5 SE and LG G5.

Differences with LG G5
One of the main differences of the LG G5 SE and LG G5 is in the chipset, CPU, and GPU. The LG G5 packs a Snapdragon 652 which has a decent but lower processing power compared to the Snapdragon 820 of LG G5.
The Snapdragon 652 processor is the latest chipset in the 600 series of Qualcomm and the first to support 4K Ultra HD capture and playback and Quad HD display support. Other new smartphones that use this chipset are Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) and HTC 10 Lifestyle.
The Snapdragon 820 in LG G5 is the latest and currently the most powerful Snapdragon chipset in the market right now. It is used by other flagship smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge and HTC 10.
In terms of RAM, the LG G5 SE has a 3 GB RAM while the LG G5 has 4 GB.
Similarities with LG G5
The LG G5 SE retained most of the awesome features of the LG G5 that you will like. You will definitely want this phone if you are on a budget.

The design of the LG G5 SE is almost the same as the LG G5 with only very slight dimensional differences. The LG G5 SE is slightly thinner at 7.3 mm compared to the 7.7 mm profile of the LG G5. The weight is almost the same.
Since the design is the same, this means you can also experience the module design of the LG G5 in the LG G5 SE! You can remove and replace the battery anytime you want.
You can put in the LG CAM Plus accessory that will add more functionalities such as digital zoom, shutter release, and 1200 mAh additional battery capacity.
You can also use the Portable Hi-Fi Plus accessory which can significantly increase the audio quality to 32-bit DAC. That’s an even higher audio quality compared to HTC 10.
Super Sharp Display
The display of LG G5 SE is also 5.3 inches in size and uses IPS LCD technology. It also has the super high resolution of the LG G5 with the same pixel density of 554 ppi. You will really like the high level of sharpness of the LG G5’s display.
It also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which is twice the durability of other glass designs and also features the Always-On display as you can see in the image below.
Special Cameras
The rear cameras have a 16MP and 8MP resolution. The 16MP camera has a larger aperture size and can capture in a normal 75-degree angle.
The 8MP rear camera is a very special camera that you can use to capture wider images in a 135-dgree angle! You can also use the rear camera to record 4K videos.
The front camera has an 8 MP resolution. You can also use the front camera to record Full HD videos.
Software, Battery Life, and Other Awesome Features
The LG G5 SE also runs on the latest Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). If you like the Android OS, you will certainly like the Marshmallow version.
It is now capable of Android Pay and helps to significantly improve the battery life.
It also comes with a 32 GB internal storage. The storage capacity can be expanded up to 200 GB using a microSD card, which is a lot of storage space for your big files.
The battery capacity is also at 2800 mAh and can last up to 20 hours of talk time (3G), but if you add the LG CAM Plus accessory, that will be a total of 4000 mAh or 28.6 hours of talk time (3G).
Other cool features that you will like include the fingerprint sensor for enhanced security, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC support and FM radio.
Conclusion
The LG G5 SE is an amazing smartphone that contains almost all of the LG G5’s external and internal features. The only difference is in the chipset which is slightly less powerful, a slight decrease in RAM, and no LTE support.
It comes with the same modular design, same wide-angle camera, Always-On display, and other nice features.
