HTC 10 Lifestyle – A Special Edition of HTC 10?
The HTC 10 Lifestyle is another smartphone to be released by HTC is selected countries, instead of the HTC 10. If LG G5 has its special edition called LG G5 SE, the HTC 10 Lifestyle is somewhat the same.
With only a few differences from the HTC 10, you will still be really amazed by the HTC 10 Lifestyle. With that said, let’s take a look at the differences and similarities.
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.2 inches (1440 x 2560 pixels)
Camera: 12MP (2160p)
Hardware: Snapdragon 652, Quad-core 1.8 GHz + Quad-core 1.2 GHz, 3GB RAM
Battery: 3000 mAh
Expected Price: US$ 599
Differences With HTC 10
Some may say that it is unfortunate for some countries to only get a local release of the HTC 10 Lifestyle instead of the HTC 10, but I disagree. I think HTC really planned this out because there are specific markets that are more into lower price handsets instead of the more expensive ones.
The good thing is that the HTC 10 Lifestyle only have a few slight differences with the HTC 10 and it may be even up to US$100 cheaper.
Chipset
The HTC 10 Lifestyle uses the Snapdragon 652 chipset and Andreno 510 GPU while the HTC 10 uses the Snapdragon 820 chipset and Andreno 530 GPU.
Snapdragon 652 is not the most high-end chipset today, but it is definitely the best chipset in the Snapdragon 600 series of Qualcomm. Unlike the other chipsets in the 600 series, it can handle the capture and playback of 4K videos. It is also capable of handling a 2K display resolution.
So it is definitely one of the best chipsets around.
Snapdragon 820 is the best and most powerful Android chipset right now. It is being used by other flagship smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge and LG G5.
The Andreno 530 is currently the best graphics processor for Android, but you will really appreciate it if you are heavy on 3D games. But if you are not, the Andreno 510 in HTC 10 Lifestyle will still provide one of the best Android experience.
The difference in chipsets also comes with the difference in the maximum LTE speeds. The HTC 10 Lifetyle can accommodate LTE Category 6 which supports up to 300 Mbps while the HTC has LTE Category 9 which supports up to 450 Mbps.
RAM and Internal Storage
When it comes to RAM, the HTC 10 Lifestyle has a 3GB RAM while the HTC 10 has a 4GB RAM. That’s not too bad as well because having a 3GB RAM will still allow you to multitask and run the best applications and games.
The HTC 10 Lifestyle comes only in 32GB internal storage space while the HTC 10 comes in 32GB or 64GB variant. You don’t have to worry about not getting a 64GB variant for the HTC 10 Lifestyle because it can also use a microSD card up to 200GB.
Battery Life
Although both smartphones have the same 3000 mAh battery capacity, the HTC 10 Lifestyle may have a slightly less battery life compared to HTC 10. This is primarily due to the chipset. Qualcomm usually makes new chipset releases that are more power efficient.
If HTC 10 is expected to last up to 27 hours of talk time (3G), the HTC 10 Lifestyle is expected to last for about 21 hours of talk time (3G).
Again, this is not that discouraging because other flagship smartphones such as the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 are expected to last fairly close to the battery life of HTC 10 Lifestyle, which is up to 20 hours and 22 hours of talk time (3G), respectively.
Similarities with HTC 10
The HTC 10 Lifestyle retained many awesome features of the HTC 10 and you will be glad to know about its features and capabilities.
Aluminum Unibody, Sturdy, and Stylish
The HTC 10 Lifestyle has a metallic body like other flagship phones such as LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. You will like the design of the HTC 10 Lifestyle because of its widely beveled edge that gives a more comfortable grip.
The weight is also 161 g and the profile is also only 9 mm thin. It is slightly thicker compared to LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 but at almost the same weight.
It also comes in Carbon Gray, Topaz Gold, Glacier Silver colors.
Quad HD display and More
If you like high-resolution displays, the HTC 10 Lifestyle has a 565 ppi pixel density, almost the same level of sharpness in the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7. It uses Super LCD 5 display technology which is close to the IPS LCD technology in LG G5 in terms of overall quality.
But still, the Super AMOLED display in Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge is still the best when displaying realistic and more vivid colors.
You will also like the good protection provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the display of HTC 10 Lifestyle which is twice more durable than other glass designs.
High-End Camera
The camera resolution alone does not determine the quality of the images.
The HTC 10 Lifestyle’s camera is definitely better than the camera of Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5. With a 12MP resolution that has a larger pixel size (1.55µm) and larger sensor size (1/2.3″), it is capable of getting more light in order to produce a higher quality image.
It has almost the same wide aperture size (f/1.8) with the Galaxy S7 and the same with LG G5.
The wide aperture size allows it to focus on the subject while capturing the image and blurring the background. This is an artistic way of getting a dimensional effect on photos.
Also, it can record 4K videos.
The 5MP front camera is the first to have the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) feature in any smartphone. This feature reduces blurring of images when the subject of the image is in motion. You will really like this feature.
High-Resolution Audio
Another aspect in which the HTC 10 Lifestyle is better than other flagship smartphones is the audio quality. It can accommodate 24-bit DAC audio, compared to the traditional 16-bit.
It also has two speakers, one is for mid to high tones and another is for lower or bass tones. Both speakers have dedicated amplifiers.
You will also like the headset that comes with the package because HTC made it to match the Hi-Res audio capability of the HTC 10 Lifestyle.
Other Awesome Features
Other features that you will like is the fingerprint sensor which enhances the security of the HTC 10 Lifestyle. Since the HTC 10 Lifestyle also runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow), you can use it with Android Pay.
It also has fast charging capacility, which will allow you to charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes. I like this feature because I don’t have to stay in one place for a longer period just to wait for the battery to charge.
It also has GPS, Wi-Fi, Acceleration Sensor, Gyroscope, Proximity Sensor, and Compass.
Conclusion
The HTC 10 Lifestyle is a cheaper version of the HTC 10. There are slight differences in the chipset, RAM, and battery life while the rest of the awesome features of the HTC 10 are retained.
You will like this version if you don’t want to spend too much on a smartphone but you still can have most of the high-end features. ?
What do you think of this new smartphone from HTC? I would love to hear from you.
