Cheap Huawei Phone – Huawei P9 Lite, A More Affordable Version of the Huawei P9

By

Huawei P9 Lite is a more affordable version of the P9, the latest flagship smartphone from Huawei. If you don’t want to purchase all the high-end features of the P9, the P9 Lite is perfect for you.

You may think that the P9 Lite may have many low to mid-range features, but you will be surprised. At almost half the price of the P9, this smartphone is certainly worth its value. Let’s find out why.

Huawei P9 Lite

Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.2 inches (1080 x 1920 pixels)
Camera: 13MP (1080p)
Hardware: HiSilicon Kirin 650, Octa-core, 3GB RAM
Battery: 3000 mAh
Price: US$ 349.99

Display

The P9 Lite has the same display size and resolution with the P9. It is also in Full HD with a 423 ppi pixel density. This level of sharpness is higher than the iPhone 6s which is only at 326 ppi.

The difference between the P9 Lite and the P9 lies in the display technology. The P9 Lite uses IPS LCD technology while the P9 uses IPS-NEO LCD. The difference between the two technologies according to the manufacturer is that the IPS-NEO LCD has “true” black color.

They did not mention any difference in the saturation and vividness of other colors aside from black.

IPS LCD technology is a better technology compared to TFT which is used by cheaper phones. It has better viewing angles and less power consumption. It is even used by LG G5, the latest flagship smartphone from LG.

Another difference is the use of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 in the P9 which is twice more durable than other glass designs.

Performance

The P9 Lite also runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) like the P9. With this latest OS, you can have a longer battery life and you can also use Android Pay. In terms of the looks, there are only subtle differences compared to the older Android OS versions.

It packs a less powerful chipset than the P9’s HiSilicon Kirin 955. It comes with either 2GB or 3GB RAM which is still decent compared to the 3GB or 4GB RAM options of the P9.

It has an internal storage capacity of 16 GB. The P9 is available is 32 GB and 64 GB. But you don’t have to worry about storage capacity because both smartphones can use a microSD card up to 128 GB.

The P9 Lite has the same battery capacity as the P9, so we expect about the same battery life. This is because they both have the same display size and OS. It could even last longer since it has less processing power. The battery is also non-removable.

Camera

The camera resolution is pretty high and is just the right resolution for its expected price. The main difference with the P9 is that the P9 Lite does not have a dual-camera lens, so it is not as advanced as the P9.

The dual-lens camera is the most advanced camera technology so far. It is not even present in the other flagship phones such as the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7. So, it wouldn’t be too bad if it’s not in the P9 Lite as well.

The P9 Lite can also record Full HD videos at 30 frames per second. This is the same video recording resolution in the P9, but the P9 can record at 60 frames per second. The 30 frames per second is already a TV quality frame speed so it is still of good quality.

The camera also features geo-tagging, face detection, panorama mode, and HDR mode.

The front camera has an 8MP resolution like the P9. Other $300 smartphones, except for the Asus Zenfone Selfie (13MP), usually only have a 5MP camera. So, this is a cool feature.

Other Awesome Features

The P9 Lite has a fingerprint sensor which is a cool feature to have in a budget smartphone. I really like this feature because I am very concerned with mobile privacy. This will also be certainly useful for your security.

The P9 Plus is LTE-capable which is much expected of the latest smartphones. It has Wi-Fi connectivity (Wi-Fi 802.11 a,b,g,n) and can be used as a hotspot.

You can use the Bluetooth to connect to accessories such as wireless speakers or headsets. It also has GPS with A-GPS to help you in your navigation.

It also has accelerometer, proximity, compass sensors. The P9 Lite comes in Silver and Gold colors, unlike the P9 which comes in six color options.

Conclusion

The Huawei P9 Lite is an affordable version of the Huawei P9 and a good choice if you are budget conscious. Despite being the budget version, it still contains many features that are not significantly lower than the P9.

The features that I like the most include the high level of display sharpness, the huge battery capacity, fingerprint sensor, and high camera resolution.

  1. I strongly believe that huawei p9 lite has gorilla glass display for I have tried to scratch it with caution many times and the scratching object keeps skidding over the surface.
