New Apple iPhone – iPhone SE will be In Stores

By

Apple officially introduced their latest 4-inch iPhone last March 21, 2016. The iPhone SE (“Special Edition”) will be available in stores on March 31, 2016 (Thursday). It comes in 16 GB and 64 GB variants with the same color choices as the iPhone 6s/6s Plus.

Do you need a more pocket-sized iPhone?

Well, the iPhone SE is not just smaller, it packs something high and big in that small form. At first, I was surprised as well. On top of that, it is more affordable compared to the previously released iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

So with that said, let’s take a look at what this newest iPhone can do.

iPhone SE

Device Type: Smartphone

Design: A smaller profile for the 4-inch lovers

Remember the iPhone 5s released last September 2013? The form of the iPhone SE is almost exactly like it. Like the iPhone 5s, it has an aluminum finish with two strips of black or white at the back.

Both smartphones have 4-inch displays, 60.8% screen-to-body ratio, and only 7.6 mm thin. They are also almost the same weight, with the SE at only 113 g and the 5s at 112 g.

Completely unoriginal design?

Almost. With the exception of the stainless steel logo at the back. Don’t get me wrong, I like the design, but it would have been perfect if it was patterned with the latest iPhone designs with curved edges that are so comfortable to hold.

But as you know, it’s a four-inch phone, so the size alone can already give a comfortable grip.

Who will certainly love this phone?

A lot of people and you may be one of them. There are those who just want the best from Apple and carry a smaller iPhone that they can slip in and out of their pocket with ease. They are mostly iPhone 5s users and those who are not a fan of larger displays of the iPhone 6 and 6s.

Processor: “The most powerful 4-inch phone ever” – Apple

If you think the iPhone SE’s capability can be measured by its physical size, it isn’t.

Looking at the hardware, it packs the same Apple A9 Dual-core 1.84 GHz Twister with M9 motion processor and 2GB RAM that can be found in the iPhone 6s.

It also has the same graphics processor (PowerVR GT7600 six-core graphics) as the iPhone 6s, which Apple described as a console-class graphics performance. You can play a lot of games with heavy graphics and you will find the performance amazingly fast.

According to Apple, the CPU is two times faster than the iPhone 5s while the graphics processor is three times faster.

It also runs on the latest iOS 9.3. The iOS keeps getting better and better with its easy and beautiful user interface and most importantly, superb security.

So think of the iPhone SE as a compact version of the iPhone 6s.

Camera and Display: Another awesome aspect of the SE

Amazingly, it also comes with the same rear camera as the iPhone 6s. The 12‑megapixel camera can capture high-quality photos and 4K videos.

With its sensor size, phase detection autofocus, dual-led flash, touch focus, HDR, and more advanced features, you will certainly capture detailed and sharper images.

The front HD camera has a 1.2MP resolution that can be used with FaceTime over Wi-Fi or Cellular data. It also has face detection and Retina Flash, where the display flashes when you take selfies. This is useful in getting brighter images even in a low-light setting. You may also use the front camera to record HD videos at 30 frames per second.

The display still retains a 326 ppi pixel density. It’s the same LED-backlight Multi-Touch IPS LCD Retina Display that can be found in iPhone 6s and iPhone 5s. With a Retina display, at a normal viewing distance, the pixels will be invisible to the eye.

However, the iPhone SE does not have the 3D Touch display technology in the iPhone 6s.

Battery Life: You will not be disappointed

Many factors contribute to the battery life. This includes the display size, display resolution, OS, processors, etc. Simply looking at the battery capacity is just the first step.

Since Apple made the latest processor and OS very efficient, the iPhone SE surpasses the battery life of the iPhone 5s. The iPhone SE can last even up to 14 hours of talk time or 13 hours of internet use/video playback or 50 hours of audio playback.

There are even actual tests where the iPhone SE lasted 2 hours longer than the iPhone 6s.

Compared to the iPhone 5s which can only last up to 10 hours of talk time, it’s a significant improvement.

Smaller phones are perfect traveling companions, especially if they have a longer battery life. Take the iPhone SE anywhere and you will still enjoy the best from it for a longer period. You don’t have to worry about running out of power more often.

Other Cool Features

The iPhone SE also features a Touch ID which not only enhances the iPhone’s lock security, but is also useful when using Apple Pay in over 2 million stores. It is the first stand alone 4-inch phone to be capable of Apple Pay.

The Touch ID though, is still the first generation Touch ID that can be found in the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, which is fast enough but not as fast as the iPhone 6s’ Touch ID.

Other sensors include a proximity sensor, three-axis gyroscope, compass, and accelerometer. It also has GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.

Siri is still a few commands away. With just a simple “Hey Siri”, activate her anytime.

You can still use headphones with 3.5 mm jack. You might be thinking that they have switched to lightning audio, but not yet.

It also has a wider band of LTE and a Wi-Fi (802.11) connectivity which has faster speeds than the iPhone 5s. The Bluetooth v4.2 feature will let you connect to various devices from the portable speakers, headsets, Apple Watch, etc.
