Experience Augmented Reality for the First Time Ever!

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro’s groundbreaking feature is its augmented reality (AR) gaming and utilities through Tango, a new technology developed by Google.

Tango allows the user to use the smartphone’s camera and enable 3D objects overlaid onto the real world that is shown on your smartphone display. It also has a lot of uses from fun and exciting games to learning and utility apps.

Check out this amazing feature in the short video below:

Design – Metal Unibody, Comfortable Design, Simple but Elegant

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro has a metal unibody like most top of the line smartphones today. It is protected by a 2.5D glass which means it has a slight curve on the edge for a stylish look and comfortable grip.

Moreover, the sides near the rear are beveled which adds more comfort when you are holding it. Like most smartphones with larger displays, it will not be easy to type with one hand on this smartphone. So a comfortable design really gives a plus.

What I like most about the design is that the front side of this smartphone does not have the brand name. It’s just my personal preference that the front side should just show the necessary parts like subtle speakers and buttons and a small selfie camera.

It also has lines that extend at the top and bottom width of the rear which is most likely the plastic lines that allow the antenna to receive mobile signals, just like in iPhone 6s/6s Plus.

The fingerprint scanner is located at the rear near the camera along with the brand name.

At 10.7 mm in thickness, it’s slightly thicker than your average smartphone. It weighs 259 g which is about 35% heavier than a 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus. That’s just the right additional weight given that the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro’s display is larger by  almost 1 inch.

You can choose from two colors such as Gunmetal Grey and Champagne Gold.

If you’re into big smartphones with bigger displays, this is actually a good choice. The design is beautiful, it has a metallic body, and it is comfortable to hold.

And then you may also want to check out later the ASUS Zenfone 3 Ultra, also a recent smartphone with a 6.8-inch display size.

Display Quality – Quad-HD with IPS LCD technology

Phab 2 ProThe Lenovo Phab 2 Pro has a 6.4-inch Quad-HD display with 459 pixels per inch. That’s twice the sharpness of the regular Lenovo Phab 2 which has the same display size.

It is actually very sharp. For me, anything above 400 pixels per inch is very satisfactory. This is one of the most important features that you need to look at when looking for a smartphone with a large display.

It has an IPS LCD display technology which has better viewing angles compared to TFT technology. It is also the same display technology used in LG G5 and iPhone 6s/6s Plus.

According to Lenovo, the display adapts to variable lighting conditions. This display adapatability will make the use of this smartphone a viewing pleasure because it will be easy on the eyes.

Processing Power – Fast and Reliable

Phab 2 Pro

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro runs on a Snapdragon 652 chipset which has an Octa-core 1.4 GHz to 1.8 GHz CPU. This chipset is very fast.

It also has an excellent graphics processor that can closely compete with the best upper mid-range smartphones.

The RAM size is 4 GB which is the size you can also find in most flagship smartphones. It’s a huge RAM size given the current standards.

The chipset is not as fast as the Snapdragon 820 in more high-end smartphones, but it will certainly give an excellent and smooth experience when using your apps and games.

Also, the integration of Snapdragon 652 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 820 allows Lenovo to offer this smartphone at a lower price compared to the flagships of other brands. And more importantly, the chipset is optimized for Tango apps.

It comes with a 64 GB internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card up to 256 GB. It uses the SIM 2 slot for the microSD card.

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro comes with the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS so you can enjoy the best and latest software features of Android.

Camera – High-Resolution and 4K Video Recording

Phab 2 ProThe rear camera has a 16 MP resolution with features such as phase detection, 0.3-second autofocus, and depth and motion sensors. The depth and motion sensors are used with the Tango technology.

It also has face detection, HDR and panorama shooting mode.

The camera resolution is sharper compared to most flagship smartphones. There is no further information on pixel size.

I really like the 0.3-second autofocus because it’s fast and convenient.

Amazingly, the rear camera can also capture 4K videos (at 30 frames per second) which is a very sharp video resolution that only most expensive smartphones can capture.

The front camera has an 8 MP resolution which is sharp enough for your selfies. It has a 1.4 µm pixel size which is quite large and impressive. A larger pixel size will allow more light to come in for better image quality.

The front camera can also record Full HD videos.

Battery, Sound, and Other Features

Phab 2 ProThe Lenovo Phab 2 Pro has a non-removable 4050 mAh battery capacity.

It also has Dolby Atmos / 5.1 Audio Capture and active noise cancellation. Cinematic sound partnered with a large display can provide the best entertainment you can experience.

It can also connect to LTE with LTE bands 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 17(700), 20(800), 30(2300) for USA and LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500) for ЕМEA. LTE speed is Cat7 300/100 Mbps.

Other cool features include Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS for finding locations, Bluetooth for your wireless accessories, FM radio, Gyroscope, Compass, Acceleration sensor, and Proximity sensor.

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, Unique, Innovative, Thumbs Up!

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro brings something new to the table – Augmented Reality (AR) through Tango technology. This technology allows objects such as 3D animations overlaid with the actual world as seen through the phone’s camera.

There are lots of uses for this technology and it’s an interesting, entertaining, and unique concept.

The Lenovo Phab 2 also has a large display with excellent quality, sturdy and comfortable design, and fast performance. You will also like the high-resolution camera, large battery capacity, and cinematic sound for total entertainment.
