Newest LG Phones – X cam, X screen, and LG K5
LG also recently announced two smartphones from its X series. These are mid-range smartphones that specialize on a certain feature instead of having the whole flagship package. These newest LG Phones are the X cam and X screen.
Are you one of those who only likes a special feature and don’t need everything else to be so high-end? The good thing about this idea from LG is that you can get the special feature that you want from a smartphone without paying more than what you need.
Aside from the X series, we also have the LG K5 from the K series.
These smartphones are expected to be released this month or in April 2016. Let’s find out what these smartphones can do.
LG X cam
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.2 inches (1080 x 1920 pixels)
Camera: 13MP (1080p)
Hardware: Octa-core 1.14 GHz, 2.0GB RAM
Battery: 2520 mAh
Expected Price: US$284 (Rs. 18,990)
The specialty of the X cam is its camera. It has two (2) rear cameras and one (1) front camera. The rear cameras have 13MP and 5MP resolution while the front camera has an 8MP resolution.
So why have two rear cameras with different resolutions?
We recently looked at the LG G5, LG’s latest flagship and it also has two rear cameras with 16MP and 8MP resolutions. Like the LG G5, the X cam has another rear camera with a lower resolution that can capture in a wide view angle.
The wide view angle capability is unique to these two smartphones so you can have more image angle captured at the same position. This is very useful in capturing group pictures and beautiful sceneries.
What else is good about this smartphone?
Although other websites provide different dimensions, according to LG, “the X cam features an elegant curved finish on the front and with a profile of only 5.2 mm”. That is super thin compared to the already very thin LG G5 which is at 7.7 mm.
It also only weighs 118g and for a 5.2-inch phone, that is super lightweight. Its body is made of sturdy plastic but with a great looking finish.
The display quality has a Full HD resolution that has a 424 ppi pixel density with IPS LCD technology. It is slightly higher in sharpness compared to the iPhone 6s Plus with a pixel density of 401 ppi.
It runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and the processing power is fast enough for a mid-range smartphone that can provide one of the best Android experience. It has a 16GB internal memory which can be expanded through a microSD card, although the maximum expansion capacity is not yet disclosed.
The battery capacity is close to the battery capacity of the LG G5 which is large enough considering the X cam’s display size. Other features that you will like are LTE capability, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, and GLONASS. It also comes in Titan Silver, Pink Gold, Gold, and White color variants.
LG X screen
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 4.93 inches (720 x 1280 pixels)
Camera: 13MP (1080p)
Hardware: Quad-core 1.2 GHz, 2.0GB RAM
Battery: 2300 mAh
Expected Price: $239.34 (Rs. 15,999)
The specialty of the X screen is its unique display. It has a 1.76-inch secondary display located at the top with an 80 x 520 resolution aside from its 4.93-inch HD display.
What is so special with this?
The primary purpose of the second display is to ease multitasking. With it, you can easily access frequently used apps, answer calls, check time, date, notifications, play music, and more. I personally check notifications all the time so this will be very useful to users like me.
How about you? What do you access most often?
Like the LG G5, it also has the “Always-on” display which can show the time, date, and some icons even during standby. This is also a feature of the Galaxy S7, Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone.
The main display has a 298 ppi pixel density in IPS LCD technology which is close to Apple’s 326 ppi Retina display, so it will certainly be beautiful. It is as thin as the iPhone 6s at only 7.1 mm.
It also runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and has a decent processor for a mid-range smartphone that is fast enough to run apps and games smoothly.
The internal memory can store up to 16 GB and can be expanded to a not yet disclosed microSD size. The rear camera can record Full HD videos and like the X cam, it has an 8MP front camera.
Other features that you will like are LTE capability, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, and GLONASS. It comes in White, Black, and Pink Gold color variants.
LG K5
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.0 inches (480 x 854 pixels)
Camera: 5MP
Hardware: Quad-core 1.3 GHz, 1.0GB RAM
Battery: 1900 mAh (removable)
Price: US$ 109.99
The LG K5 is one of the K Series smartphones. This display has a lower resolution with a 196 ppi pixel density, so expect it not to have the best display sharpness, but also expect a very affordable price.
It runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) and with its processing power and RAM, it can run apps and games smoothly, but performance may slow down when you multitask.
It has an 8 GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB with the use of microSD card. Other features include LTE capability, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, FM radio, and removable battery. It comes in Titan, Silver, and Gold color variants.
What do you think of these new smartphones from LG? I would love to hear from you.
