Newest LG Phones – LG Stylus 2, K10, K8, K7, and K4
Aside from the stunning flagship phone of LG, the LG G5, they also announced another five of the newest LG phones in 2016. The new models are LG Stylus, K10, K8, K7, and K4.
Although the prices are not yet officially announced, LG has a history of providing smartphones with more affordable prices and excellent specs compared to the other mobile brands. So expect to get more value for your money when getting an LG smartphone.
With that said, let’s take a look at these new awesome and affordable phones from LG.
1. LG Stylus 2
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.7 inches (720 x 1280 pixels)
Camera: 13MP (1080p)
Hardware: Quad-core 1.2 GHz, 1.5GB RAM
Battery: 3000 mAh (removable)
Price: US$ 298
The LG G Stylus is an enhanced version of the LG G4 Stylus released last April 2015. The main difference can be found in the design, software, and pen accessory.
According to LG, the pen is now more accurate because of the nano-coated tip. The previous version only has a rubber-tipped pen. There are also software features specific to LG Stylus 2 like writing as if using a fountain pen and more.
At only 7.4 mm thin and 145 g in weight, it is 30% thinner and more lightweight compared to LG G4 Stylus (9.6 mm at 163 g). When it comes to smartphones, I always prefer thin and lightweight phones because they are comfortable to carry. It also now has a metallic frame in all its edges which adds to the sturdiness of the phone.
When it comes to hardware, almost all are similar to the premium LG G4 Stylus features. The LG G Stylus 2 comes with an IPS LCD display technology with 258 ppi pixel density.
The internal storage is 16GB which can be expanded up to 128GB through a microSD card. That’s a huge storage space for a mid-range phone! It can also record Full HD videos and the battery life is also quite huge so we could expect the same 18 hours (3G) of talk time like in LG G4 Stylus.
Other cool features are LTE capability, 8MP front camera, Android OS 6.0 (Marshmallow), Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS, and GLONASS. It also comes in titan, white, and brown color variants.
2. LG K10
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.3 inches (720 x 1280 pixels)
Camera: 13MP (1080p) (LTE model) | 8MP (3G model)
Hardware: Snapdragon 410, Quad-core 1.2 GHz, 1.0GB to 1.5GB RAM (depends on model)
Battery: 2300 mAh (removable)
Price: US$ 189.99
Personally, the most impressive aspect of the LG K10 is the design. It has a smooth arc and stylish pebble design at the back.
The edges have no bumps since the volume and power button are at the back of the phone. Combined with the arc design, this phone is also very comfortable to hold.
The LG K10 features an IPS LCD display technology with 277 ppi pixel density, which may not be the best display quality around.
The internal storage is 8GB which can be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD card. It can also record Full HD videos and the battery life can last up to 16 hours of talk time.
Other cool features are LTE capability, 5MP front camera, Android OS 6.0 (Marshmallow), Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and FM Radio. It also comes in black, indigo, and white color variants.
3. LG K8
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.0 inches (720 x 1280 pixels)
Camera: 8MP (1080p)
Hardware: Mediatek, Quad-core 1.3 GHz, 1.5GB RAM
Battery: 2125 mAh (removable)
Price: US$ 224
This smartphone was announced last February 2016 and it is expected to be released in March or April.
The LG K8 features an IPS LCD display technology with 294 ppi pixel density, which makes the display the sharpest in the list. For me, the display sharpness is one of the most important features in a smartphone.
For me, the display sharpness is one of the most important features in a smartphone. How about you?
The internal storage is 8GB which can be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD card.
It can also record Full HD videos and the battery life can last up to 7 hours of talk time. The battery life is probably the downside of this phone. Most of the latest phones can last up to 12 hours of talk time.
Other notable features are LTE capability, 5MP front camera, Android OS 6.0 (Marshmallow), Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and FM Radio. It also comes in black/blue and white color variants.
4. LG K7 (also known as LG Tribute 5)
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 5.0 inches (480 x 854 pixels)
Camera: 8MP (720p)
Hardware: Snapdragon 210, Quad-core 1.1 GHz, 1GB RAM (3G model)
Battery: 2125 mAh (removable)
Price: US$ 129.99
The form of LG K7 is not much different from K10. There are also curves at the back, the sides have no buttons.
The difference is more on the matte finish of K7 compared to the glossy K10.
Do you prefer a glossy or a matte finish?
The LG K7 comes with an IPS LCD display technology and 196 ppi pixel density. The display quality is its downside.
There are 3G and LTE models, and the LTE model has a Quad-core 1.3 GHz processor and 1.5GB RAM. The 3G model has an 8GB internal memory while the LTE model has 8GB and 16GB variants. Both can use a microSD card up to 32GB.
The battery life can last up to 22 hours of talk time and it can also record HD videos.
Other good features include a 5MP front camera, Android OS 5.1 (Lollipop), Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS, and FM Radio. It also comes in white, black, gold, and titan (LTE) color variants.
5. LG K4
Device Type: Smartphone
Display: 4.5 inches (480 x 854 pixels)
Camera: 5MP (720p)
Hardware: Mediatek, Quad-core 1.0 GHz, 1GB RAM
Battery: 1940 mAh (removable)
Price: US$ 109.99
The LG K4 may have the lowest specs in the list so it is expected to have the lowest price. This is perfect if you need a very affordable phone.
I think LG designed this for the younger consumers.
The LG K4’s display uses IPS LCD technology and has a pixel density of only 218 ppi. It has an 8GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB with the use of a microSD.
The video camera can also record HD videos and the battery can last up to 9 hours of talk time (3G).
Other good features are LTE capability, 2MP front camera, Android OS 5.1.1 (Lollipop), Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS, and FM Radio. It also comes in white and indigo color variants.
What do you think of these new smartphones from LG? I would love to hear from you.
