September 29, 20202:17 am By

If you are searching for the cheapest phones for Fortnite Mobile, I made a Top 5 list that can help you. Trust me, you don’t have to spend on an expensive smartphone to play this game smoothly.

I became addicted to battle royale games and started playing Fortnite since the game became available to Android devices in 2018. Even people who do not usually play video games are drawn to it.

Fortnite Android System Requirements

The minimum requirements for Android devices are as follows (Source: Official Epic Games Website):

  • 64-bit Android on an ARM64 processor
  • Android OS 8.0 or higher
  • 4GB RAM or higher
  • GPU: Adreno 530 or higher, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher

If you have a specific phone in mind that is not on the Top 5 list but you don’t know if it has an ARM64 processor, you can use the below list extracted from Google Play console by Reddit user/App developer pkmn_throwaway_pst.

And then you have to ensure that the phone also meets the other three minimum requirements. Also, note that the minimum RAM size is not 3GB anymore.

4GB RAM Version

If you are not yet familiar with the Xiaomi brand, it’s one of the best and trusted brands in the market. As of Q2 2020, Xiaomi has the fourth-largest market share of smartphone shipments globally after Samsung, Apple, and Huawei.

With this phone model, you can play smoothly at 30 FPS Mobile Frame Rate and Medium Graphics Quality. Higher Graphics Quality and 60 FPS are not available. I also suggest that you set the 3D resolution to 100% for better graphics. With these settings and a good internet connection, you can play continuously without lag.

The 6.67 inches display size is also perfect for playing Fortnite. And you will also enjoy longer gaming hours because of the 5,020 mAh battery capacity. It’s capable of fast charging (18W) so you can charge it from 0% to 100% in just 1 hour and 45 minutes. You’ll be back in the game in no time.

#2 – Samsung Galaxy S10+ (Renewed)

Display: 6.4 inches 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~395 ppi density)

With the Samsung Galaxy S10+, you can play up to Epic Graphics Quality with 30 FPS (not 60 FPS). You can also set it to High Graphics Quality which will allow you to play up to 60 FPS.

I recommend High Graphics Quality with 60 FPS when playing on your Galaxy S10+ for very smooth gameplay. Don’t forget to check if you are getting the Snapdragon version which is better than the Exynos version in terms of performance. Also, the phone is also capable of 15W fast charging.

You can also check for renewed versions of the Samsung Galaxy S10 if you find the price of the S10+ still a little expensive.

#3 – Samsung Galaxy S9 (Renewed)

Display: 5.8 inches 1440 x 2960 pixels (~570 ppi density)
OS: Android 8.0 (Oreo), upgradable to Android 10

Price: USD 259.99 (64 GB)

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is capable of running Fortnite smoothly without spending too much on newer Samsung flagships. I recommend 30 FPS with High Graphics Quality in the game settings for a smooth and continuous lag-free gameplay.

The 30 FPS Mobile Frame Rate with Epic Graphics Quality is not available by default but you can set 1440p resolution in your phone settings to enable this option. But I still recommend that you set it to High only. Also, the phone is also capable of 15W fast charging.

The Renewed version on Amazon is as good as new and very affordable. For the warranty, the renewed versions are backed by the 90-day Amazon guarantee so you can easily return it if needed.

#4 – Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro (Released: September 2019)

Display: 6.53 inches 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~395 ppi density)

Network: 3G bands: HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100; 4G bands: LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300)

Price: USD 219 (6GB RAM/64 GB); USD 249 (6GB RAM/128 GB)

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is a solid device for playing Fortnite. You can play up to High Graphics Quality up to 30 FPS. Epic Graphics and 60 FPS are not available.

The display size is also the perfect size. The only downside is the battery life which is good but not great, probably because the processor is Mediatek and not Snapdragon. But for the price, I think it’s worth it.

Despite that, the phone is capable of 18W fast charging from 0% to 40% in 30 minutes.

#5 – BLU G90 Pro (Released: August 2020)

Display: 6.5 inches; 1080 x 2340 pixels (396 PPI); IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
OS: Android 10
Hardware:  Mediatek MT6785 Helio G90T (12 nm), GPU: Mali-G76 MC4, 128 GB Internal Memory, 4 GB RAM
Battery: Non-removable Li-Po 5,100 mAh battery
Network: 4G LTE (1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/28); 3G: (850/900/1700/1900/2100)

Price: USD 249.99

Check out the lowest price: Amazon.com

The BLU G9 Pro can play Fortnite up to High Graphics Quality at 30 FPS. Epic Graphics Quality is not available in Settings. The battery capacity is even higher than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. Moreover, it is capable of 18W fast charging.

This is also an excellent choice if you have a tight budget. Note that this phone is compatible with GSM carriers (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, Metro PCS, and others) but it doesn’t work with CDMA carriers (e.g. Sprint or Verizon Wireless).

My Recommendations

Overall, I recommend the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S if you want a brand new Android smartphone that can smoothly run Fortnite at 30 FPS. It has a Snapdragon CPU, excellent battery life, and it’s very affordable.

If you prefer a Samsung phone, you can get a renewed version of Samsung Galaxy S10+ if you have a slightly higher budget or the Galaxy S10 or S9 if you have a lower budget. Remember to buy the Snapdragon version instead of the Exynos version for longer battery life.

Remember, there is no need to buy the latest high-end smartphones in order to have an excellent Fortnite Mobile gameplay experience. You can always save money with a smartphone that is affordable and with the right specs.
