Cheapest Phones for Mobile Legends – Top 10

August 7, 202011:55 am By

Today, I made a list of the best and cheapest phones that you can use to play Mobile Legends so you can already jump into it.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a free multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) mobile game that is very fun and exciting to play.

I’ve been playing this game for many years now whenever I have free time. It’s very addictive and the fun and laughter are overwhelming especially if you play with your friends.

But before that, let’s discuss the things you need to consider when choosing your phone.

Mobile Legends

Mobile Legends – Things to Consider Before Getting a Phone

No Touch Latency Issues / Touch Lag – This is probably the most important aspect that you need to consider when getting a cheaper phone for Mobile Legends. For example, the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is only around USD 286 last year, but you will be disappointed because you can’t even cast multiple skills quickly in Mobile Legends using this phone.

The Pocophone F1 hardware is as fast as the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and can definitely run games with heavy graphics smoothly. But when it comes to Mobile Legends where you need to be very fast when casting skills at the precise moment, Pocophone F1 is practically frustrating, despite having the latest OS updates.

Below are the phones that you should avoid for having touch latency or joystick issues as reported by several users on Reddit and other online forums. These phones are excellent and cheap, but these are not good for playing Mobile Legends:

  • Huawei Honor Play (Source: Online Forums)
  • Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (Source: Reddit)
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (Source: Reddit)
  • Samsung J7 Prime (joystick issue can be fixed through a workaround, but it’s bothersome Source: Online Forums)

Larger Screen – The ideal screen size is 5.5″ and higher. I used to play on my Huawei P10 with its 5.1″ screen a year ago and it was fine. But I noticed that it’s easier for my fingers to cast skills and navigate the game when I use my other 5.7″ smartphone. Aside from that, you will appreciate more the cool graphics on a larger screen.

Some are using tablets like the iPad mini. The disadvantage of using a tablet is its weight. You can’t hold it very long without feeling the fatigue on your hands. In Mobile Legends, you always need to keep your hands and fingers relaxed to play effectively.

Longer Battery Life – This is very important especially if you are playing outside while waiting for someone, etc. You can play while on the bus or train or at the airport to kill time. But the fun only lasts until you have consumed all your phone’s battery life.

Also, you have to check if the smartphone is capable of fast charging. Some smartphones take hours to charge and you don’t want that especially if you are playing very often.

There are also smartphones that have Ultrapower Saving Mode functionality if you are very serious about battery life. These smartphones allow you to select three to six applications that you can run while in the power-saving mode.

Other Considerations – Physical Buttons, Gaming Phone Holder, and Use of Voice Chat

Smartphones with physical buttons for <Back>, <Recent Apps>, or <Home> key may extremely bother you during gameplay. You will most likely accidentally press these keys while playing the game because these physical keys are usually near the edge and close to your hands.

Imagine pressing the physical <Back> or <Home> key during an important clash. It will temporarily show a pop-up screen or you will be out of your game and discover that you died when you get back.

I highly discourage you from using Smartphones with physical keys at the bottom. If you still like a smartphone with physical keys for <Back>, <Recent Apps>, or <Home>, you can try to install an app that can modify or disable the effect of any physical buttons.

You can also buy a gaming phone holder as an alternative. I tried to buy one, but I was so used to using just the smartphone that I have never adapted to using a gaming phone holder. It takes time to adjust when using this accessory.

If you like to play with Voice Chat on so you can discuss strategies faster with your friends, you will need a good headset. Try to get a smartphone with a standard (e.g. 3.5 mm) audio jack so you can easily find a replacement headset.

  1. Hey Chris, I am currently looking for a new phone and I’m stuck between the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Samsung Galaxy A50, I’ve always loved the ASUS but I’m steering towards the Galaxy for the upgraded OS even though it’s a little more expensive I am willing to pay the extra price. Thanks for all your help.

    1. Hey Brandon,

Both are excellent smartphones in my opinion. If your only concern is that Zenfone Max Pro M1 does not have the latest OS, you don’t have to worry about it. It comes with Android 8.1 but it can be upgraded to Android 9.0.

The advantage of Zenforne Max Pro M1 over the Galaxy A50 is that it has a longer battery life and despite that, it’s only 0.8 mm thicker than Galaxy A50. The Galaxy A50, on the other hand, has Super AMOLED display which means it has more vivid display colors. It also has a larger screen size.

They are both fast enough for Mobile Legends. It’s just up to you what features you want more aside from the latest OS.

  2. Hey thank you for the awesome review!!  This helps me a lot because I have been looking for a good cheap phone with a bigger screen.  My wife has the Galaxy Edge, and she loves it.  I’m thinking about getting the Galaxy 8.  Ever since I have been getting smart phones, I’ve stuck with the Galaxy brand because I have had great experiences with them.

    1. Hi Jessie, premium Galaxy brands from Galaxy 7 and up have improved battery life compared to the older premium Galaxy versions. I guess that will be your starting point when selecting a Galaxy smartphone.

      1. hi guys, can someone sponsor for my new phone? I already have 5,000 but still short of 2,000. please help me my current old phone is slightly broken. here’s my gcash 09106705239 lester solis. thank you in advance.

  3. I am currently running an Umidigi A5 Pro which is an octa core Helio P2 23 2.0GHZ with 4gb of Ram and Android 9.0. I do not know if you know this phone but i was wondering if you have tested it out on this game? It is very Cheap at around £100 in the UK. Thanks for a comprehensive list of phones which are of a reasonable price with quite High Spec. I have been a big fan of Motorola for a few years now. I had the G3 and G4 and Now my son has the G7 Power and they are great reliable handsets. Unfortunately I don’t think they get the respect they deserve. The G6 that you recommend would be great for this game and you can pick them up very cheaply over here in England. The CPU’s in most phones nowadays are so powerful that the games are now looking as good as consul games in some instances. Thanks for your post. Mark

    1. Hey Mark, it will work well in your smartphone with that kind of specs. You can try it in your phone and let me know what you think.

I agree with you Mark, high graphic games that you usually play only in PC years ago can now be played in a smartphone. 🙂

  4. Interesting. I myself have an iPhone so not an Android iOS. I didn’t see any Apple phones listed. Do you know what the differences are there in gaming? Have you compared the iPhone to the Android iOS in the touch lag when it comes to playing Mobile Legends? I know the battery of the iPhone seems to deteriorate over time. In fact, the only thing I find frustrating when gaming is the battery on the iPhone so I’ve been shopping around. I’ve never heard of most of these phones other than Samsung. I really didn’t like the pop-up ads and I thought the security on the device wasn’t great when I had a Samsung. I really like the features on the Xiaomi Mi 9T that you mentioned, especially the battery life. Impressive! I’ll have to check this one out!

    1. Hey Catherine, iPhones are usually more expensive so it’s not easy to find a cheaper iPhone model that can play Mobile Legends. So far, I was able to play in an iPhone 6s Plus and an iPad. It works great even on older models. The only problem with Android phones is that there are a lot of brands and models and if you will get one, you have to be careful not to choose Android phones with touch lag.

I think you might have experienced security issues with a Samsung phone that has an older Android version. The security of newer Android OS versions are already excellent and they keep sending patches to improve security as well. Also, the security does not depend on the OS alone, it will also depend on the applications and games that you have installed. Some applications can be harmful so you should be also careful when installing applications even from the official stores. I like the Xiaomi Mi 9T too, I’m glad I could help. 🙂

  5. Glad you mentioned screen size and battery life. There is nothing worse than playing a game on your phone and have its battery die within minutes. The Motorola Moto G6 looks like a very great phone especially with its reputation of battery life. The 5.7″ screen looks big enough to navigate through. The Xiaomi feature is really cool. I would love to have a phone that destroys apps that are not needed. I have never played Mobile Legends, time to look into it. Thank you for these recommendations.

    1. Hey Carol5162, when me and my friends get together at my place, we play Mobile Legends for hours until early morning. However, the huge problem which is always happening is that they don’t bring their own phone chargers! And we all have to share using two of my chargers and it was really difficult because when I and one of my friends became low on battery, we have to decide who will charge first.

Battery life is one of the most underrated and one of the most important features when playing games. You will enjoy playing this game especially if you have started to master the use of a certain hero that you like. 🙂

  6. Thank you for taking the time to find cheaper phones to play Mobile Legends! I am on a tight budget but my friends keep talking about this game, and my phone is really old so it doesn’t play very well on it. I love Samsung phones, I cannot believe the galaxy s8 is only $255 now, I can pick up a couple extra shifts and get one of those in a couple weeks! I cannot wait to play Mobile Legends with my friends!

    1. That Galaxy S8 is the renewed version that’s why it’s cheaper. The unit has been used before and has been refurbished or the units were unboxed or unused and returned by the customer for various reasons. These renewed units look like and function like new smartphones. When it comes to renewed phones, the most important aspect you should look at is the seller. You should check if they have goods reviews and can be trusted. Buying from Amazon is a good example. They only allow selected sellers that maintain high quality and performance for renewed units. Amazon also provides bet 90 to 120 days of warranty.

  7. Hi!
I am planning to buy a phone that is good all around aside from gaming. The games I play on my phone don’t really require high end specs but I was amazed with the touch latency you mentioned and didn’t realize such existed in phones. When I play MLBB, I just always blamed my sweaty hands or that maybe my touch was too light, or I didn’t hit the skill spot on that’s why it didn’t cast or it cast late. What are your thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy A71 with regards to touch latency?

    1. Hi Kris, touch latency is fine in A71 unlike in A70. A70 has touch latency issues. The problem with A71 is that the new update for MLBB removed the Ultra Graphics and HFR. It also has frame rate drops. Frame rate drops are acceptable for phones with a low-range processor, e.g. Snapdragon 4xx, but not for a more expensive phone like A71 with Snapdragon 730. IMO, I don’t think it’s worth the price for the MLBB gameplay quality it can provide.

    2. I suggest that you explore iPhone SE (2020) as an alternative. It’s only at USD 399 and it already has the processing power of iPhone 11 and the display size is the same as the iPhone 8 (4.7 inches).
